Optimization of Heterogeneous Photosensitized Oxidation for Winery Effluent Treatment

چکیده
In this study, the heterogeneous photosensitized oxidation treatment of winery effluents was optimized using chitosan carriers immobilized with Zn(II) Phthalocyanine tetrasulfonic acid. The influence main operating parameters such as initial pH, aeration flow rate, photocatalyst load, and concentration photosensitizer used in photocatalysts’ preparation investigated. Results for chemical oxygen demand (COD) phenolic content (TPh) removals are presented each tests performed. Best reductions were obtained after 30 min natural sunlight at an pH 4.0 2.8 L/min since it allowed 45% COD 73% (TPh). addition, possibility reusing photocatalysts during several cycles also assessed, where acidic their reuse, being only value studied leaching not observed. these conditions, same reused six reaction cycles, efficiency started to decrease third use. Thus, a greater mass contributed superior reduction organic matter. results show that radiation energy source is interesting approach obtaining reusable water from effluents.

Dynamics of a microbial biofilm in a rotating biological contactor for the treatment of winery effluent
Wastewater from wine-related industries is characterised by high variability in COD and pH. Disposal of these effluents with little or no treatment could lead to heavy financial penalties or pollution of soil and water resources. A pilot-scale rotating biological contactor (RBC) was evaluated for the treatment of winery effluent, with specific focus on the biofilms that formed on the RBC discs....
متن کاملPhotosensitized one-electron oxidation of DNA*
Photosensitized one-electron oxidation of DNA has attracted much interest because it causes oxidative damage which leads to mutation, and because it is involved in the basic mechanism of photodynamic therapy. In the present article, we describe the mechanistic study of photosensitized DNA damage, especially addressing the kinetics of hole transfer by adenine(A)-hopping and its effect on the DNA...

The treatment of an effluent from the production of trifluraline was studied using a 1-L, semi-batch, tank-stirred glass reactor for performing three different advanced oxidation processes (photoperoxidation, Fenton, photo-Fenton). A commercial, medium-pressure mercury lamp was used for sample irradiation. The degradation was monitored by measurements of absorptiometric color reduction, UV-visi...
متن کاملOptimization and Process Control of Air Quality Control Systems for Improved WFGD Oxidation Chemistry and Effluent Composition for Wastewater Treatment
Wastewater treatment (WWT) of wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) effluent, mercury and selenium control are becoming critical issues for many utilities operating with coal-fired power generation. Research has shown that absorber slurry oxidation reduction potential (ORP) is a primary factor for determination of control of WFGD chemistry. Previously unexplained swings in the ORP of operating WF...
